Teaching excerpt: In this video, Lama Lhundrup provides reflections on why to undertake a path of inner transformation. There are various motivations, the most basic of which is stress, experiencing the dissatisfaction of life. There can also be the wish to find a deeper source of happiness, both for oneself and others.
Spirituality means working with one’s mind. Mind has many layers, and the deeper layers are where inspiration and motivation live. We can discover the motivation to become free, to explore the inherent potential we all have. To do this we need mind training, we need to work on ourselves. We train ourselves in letting go of what is not beneficial. It is not easy to let go of negative habitual patterns, but as we do so we become more inspired by the open states of mind we encounter. And so we are motivated to continue. This is how we enter and progress on the path of transformation.
